Compliance
What this page is
Money exchange and cryptocurrency services are regulated differently in different countries, and the obligations that apply depend on where the operator is established and where its customers are.
This page describes the controls this platform provides so that its operator can meet the obligations that apply to them. It is a description of capability, not a claim of authorisation.
Verification levels
Customer verification is tiered, and which tier an exchange requires is configured by the operator rather than fixed in the software:
- Level 0 — registered. An email address confirmed at sign-up.
- Level 1 — contact confirmed. Email and mobile number confirmed.
- Level 2 — identity verified. Government-issued identity document reviewed and accepted.
- Level 3 — enhanced. Additional checks, such as proof of address or source of funds.
An exchange pair, or an amount, can be set to require any of these. Where verification is required, the calculator says so before an order is placed.
Transaction controls
- Limits. Minimum, maximum and per-customer daily limits are set per exchange pair.
- Payment verification. Every payment is reviewed by an operator before a payout is released. Payments are matched to orders by the reference the customer submits.
- Records. Each transaction stores the amounts, the rate applied, the fees, the payment reference, the payout reference and the full sequence of status changes with timestamps.
- Audit trail. Privileged actions are recorded with the identity and role of the person who performed them. Those records are append-only and cannot be edited or deleted.
- Reserve ledger. The funds backing each payout method are tracked in an append-only ledger. Balances are derived from that ledger rather than being editable figures.
Source of funds and sanctions
The verification workflow supports collecting source-of-funds information at higher tiers. Screening against sanctions and politically-exposed-person lists is the operator's responsibility and is carried out through their own arrangements.
Reporting suspicious activity
Where the operator's obligations require a suspicious activity report, the transaction records and audit trail described above are the source for it.
What we will not do
We will not help anyone evade a payment provider's terms, an identity check, a sanctions measure or a tax obligation, and we will not build features intended to do so.
